    Time for Change!

Westbury White Horse, Wiltshire Indoor Biotechnologies Ltd (UK) has a new manager and new offices. This summer, after 7 years at the helm, our UK manager Lyn Williams decided to move on and form her own business. We wish Lyn every success in her new endeavour and welcome Sandra Docherty BA, our new manager. Sandra has extensive financial and marketing experience and is looking forward to making the transition into biotechnology. As of October 1st, the UK company office is re-locating to The Old Brewery (circa 1885), Warminster, Wiltshire. Regrettably, the beer is no longer on tap, but we will continue to satisfy all your allergen and assay needs!

UK Manager, Sandra J. Docherty BA

We are pleased to welcome Sandra Docherty as our new Business Manager at Indoor Biotechnologies Ltd. Sandra graduated with a BA in Business Studies (Hons.) and worked as a financial advisor in London with Alexanders and Noble Lowndes until 1996. Subsequently, she continued with academic studies in finance and communication skills and, while taking time out to bring up her son, worked in a quasi-judicial capacity for the Scottish Executive on the Children's Panel. After returning to the financial sector earlier this year, Sandra decided to pursue other opportunities and we are delighted that she has joined INDOOR Biotechnologies. Sandra brings new drive and enthusiasm to the position and is looking forward to developing business relationships and opportunities with all of our clients.

    Latest Research News

Results of the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS) of mite and cat allergen exposure in 22 cities across Europe have just been published in the September edition of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology*. Over 3000 mattress dust samples were analyzed for mite allergens (Der p 1, Der f 1, Group 2) and for Fel d 1. Although mite allergens were detected in >50% of samples, there were large variations in allergen levels (GM <0.1 - 14.7ug/g Group 1 allergen) that were attributed to geographic and housing characteristics, with dampness and old mattresses being particularly associated with high allergen levels. The ECRHS data confirmed large variation in cat allergen levels among current and past cat owners (GM 1.8-207ug/g and 0.07-5.0ug/g, respectively). Not having a cat at home did not protect against community exposure to Fel d 1, particularly in communities with high levels of cat ownership. *Heinrich et al, JACI 118:674-81, 2006; Zoch et al JACI 118: 682-690, 2006.

Both papers carried a Memoriam to Dr. Christina Luczynska who sadly died in 2005. Christina developed the Der p 1 and Der f 1 allergen assays, and studied the aerodynamic properties of Fel d 1, as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Virginia in the 1980's.
